The Artist
“It is the majesty and sombre beauty of trees and woodlands that Bleau paints. Using a variety of media and organic materials within her work she intends to interpret the structure of the trees, their changing moods and to stress the importance of protecting these magical beings.”
Born August 29th 1988, Bleau-Shanay Hudson spent her childhood and teenage years growing up in the West Sussex countryside. Surrounded by woodlands and trees, Bleau spent most of her time outdoors where her love for nature grew and her imagination created a world in which to escape, believe in and explore. Her mother’s creativity influenced Bleau’s interest in art and this continued to develop throughout her education.
Bleau went onto study art and photography at GCSE and A Level and begun working for the National Trust after leaving college. Bleau worked on her own art as a hobby throughout and after her education. From experimenting with different ideas and techniques she discovered her niche with mixed media and collage work taking inspiration from the idea of reusable and organic materials. Woodlands and trees have always captivated Bleau’s imagination and her appreciation for them led her to interpret them within her work. After encouragement from family and friends Bleau began seeking further opportunities for her art. From the age of 18 she has since exhibited in East Grinstead, Tunbridge Wells and Lewes. After her recent big success at an exhibition Bleau is now taking more commissions and working on new collections for upcoming exhibitions and galleries. Bleau is also continuing her career with The National Trust and studying within the heritage sector.
